MY son was the inspiration behind Growel Skills,” recalls Lalithakannan. For herself and her husband Mohanakannan, the anxiety and trauma of watching their son struggle in school over bad handwriting is still fresh, five years after they together started Growel Skills Academy of Handwriting Training.

Today the academy has its head office in Anna Nagar with over 800 students besides the other branches in Thiruvanmiyur, Ashok Nagar and the most recent one at Purasaivalkam. The new handwriting improving branch at Purasaivalkam was inaugurated on Monday. The franchisee, Pawan Lodha and his wife Seema Lodha, also happen to be parents of one of the students.

“Good handwriting takes a very important place even today. I welcome Pawan Lodha and Seema Lodha into the Growel family,” said Mohanakannan. The inauguration was graced by Neela N Desai, Principal, Kola Saraswathi Vaishnav Senior Secondary School, S Chinni Krishna, Chairman, Blue Cross of India and Clement Ashok, Vice-President Sutherland Global Services.

“Today a child may win many awards in many fields but without proper communication, good legible handwriting he still has a drawback. A good handwriting is the first step towards the many milestones of success for the child. Parents must also try and be as supportive and understanding as they could,” said Neela Desai.

“Good handwriting is one of the basic criterion for many leading educational institutions today. This is a great initiative by the Lodhas,” said Clement Ashok. “A good handwriting gives the first impression, before content, language and other criteria. So, its important for it to be good,” said Chinni Krishna.

Growel Skills imparts handwriting improvement therapy to students of all age groups and special children with learning difficulties. Apart from its regular course a special summer camp is also being conducted by Growel.
